KansasHauntedHouses.com recently sat down with Dave Lyon of Field Of Screams Kansas, to discuss what's new at Field Of Screams Kansas for the 2023 Halloween Season!

What's new at Field Of Screams Kansas for 2023? Do you have any new rides, attractions, or special features that Haunt Seekers should know about?

2023 is our 20th season, 20 Years of Fear! We have revamped scenes and add a couple of new ones as well. Some of the favorites over the years, like Clown Town 3D, are still here, but we have added exciting scares we know you'll love! In addition, we have expanded our queue lines/concession area and will feature new menu items as well as new concessions area. That is in addition to our added midway experience from last season, the photo booth and Shirt Shack, both returning for the 2023 season.

What are you most excited about for the 2023 Halloween Season?

It's hard to believe that we've been scaring the Wichita metro area and surrounding communities in Kansas and beyond for 20 seasons! We're the most excited to for our guests to experience the new additions this year.

What differentiates Field Of Screams Kansas from other local haunts in Kansas?

Our actors are what sets up apart. We said that for years, you can have the best sets, props, and scenes, but if you're actors aren't top quality, it's all for nothing. It starts with a trained, high quality actor. We also want to give our guests something new that they haven't seen or experienced at a haunted attraction before, that's why we update and change ours around every season.

How long has Field Of Screams Kansas been in business? Can you tell us a bit more about Field Of Screams Kansas's history?

2023 is our 20th season, 20 Years of Fear! Opening in 2004 at Prairie Pines, we started out small and have grown each year. Added more actors, new scares, and new experiences. Over the years, we have continued to evolve, we don't want to stay stagnant. If you don't grow, you die.

What's your favorite experience since opening Field Of Screams Kansas?

We're thankful that we're still doing this after 20 seasons, we can't imagine doing anything else!

How long is a typical haunt experience at Field Of Screams Kansas from start to finish?

A walk through our attraction averages 35-40 minutes. In addition to the main Field of Screams attraction, there's also two Escape Shakes, two separate 15-minute escape games in which participants find clues and solve puzzles in order to unlock the door of the shack to escape.

On a scale from 1 to 10, how scary would you say Field Of Screams Kansas is? Why?

Field of Screams Kansas is intended to scare you. Some as young as eight do not scare easily, yet many 16-year-olds are unable to make it through!

Does Field Of Screams Kansas's property have any real haunted history? Do you have a spooky encounter you'd like to share?

Field of Screams Kansas is based on the legend of the Spurlock clan, who once supposedly lived on the land that is now Prairie Pines/Field of Screams Kansas.

What inspired you to open up a haunted attraction? What's your favorite part of the business?

We got into the haunted attraction business because we love Halloween. If you don't love this time of year, why are you in this business? Halloween and this time of your our favorite, and we can't think of a better way to spend it then scaring guests year after year!

How has new technology (i.e. animatronics, special props, etc) helped you to enhance Field Of Screams Kansas?

I mentioned our amazing actors earlier, but one other thing that sets Field of Screams Kansas apart from other haunts in the area is our animatronics and pyrotechnics. No other haunt in the Wichita metro area has pyrotechnics. I think, that's the biggest thing from a presentation/production standpoint that sets us apart.

Can Field Of Screams Kansas accommodate large groups? How many people can experience Field Of Screams Kansas together as a group?

Yes! Group prices are available for groups of 25 or more. All groups over 25 can pre-arrange a discount of $5.00 per ticket. Group discounted tickets are available to purchase online or over the phone.

Does Field Of Screams Kansas offer any special deals, discounts, or coupons?

We hold two sales in late summer before the season starts (the Summer Slasher Sale and the Friday Night Fright Sale.) We also have different pricing for different nights. That way, guests can come on the night that fits their budget.

Anything else you'd like to let us know about Field Of Screams Kansas?

We want to thank everyone that has supported us for the first 20 years, and we can't wait to see everything for the 2023 haunt season!
